Dasha Yildirim is a Turkish-Kazakh Illustrator and visual artist studying at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in BC, Canada.
Her works are illuminating a modern approach to childhood nostalgia, and aiming to cast the whimsical in a more respected light. Arriving in Canada in 2016, her purpose was to find a satisfactory art education, and access to jobs that value a creative approach. She spends most of her time drawing in graphite and painting in watercolour.
When not drawing, Dasha handcrafts delicate porcelain ball-jointed dolls that are designed with high quality materials, fibres, and vintage findings. Her first porcelain doll, made in 2017, opened up new possibilities for her artistic vision beyond two dimensional work.
